Tuesday 28th December

Boy have I missed the park whilst being at Uni!!! It's lovely to be able make some regular visits around my exam revision amongst other things! Today there was a light fog in the air and this made the temperature rather chilly.

4 Goldcrests were noted, 1 Treecreeper was heard, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard, 7 Nuthatch were recorded, a few Siskin were heard down along the River Len, 2 Grey Wagtails were heard, and at least 5 Redwing were seen.

Green Sandpiper

The Green Sandpiper remained at the Old Pond (opposite the Waterfall), along with 2 Moorhen and a Common Snipe. (A Jack Snipe was seen later today by another birder!). On the Lake were 3 Tufted Duck, 2 Cormorants and around 150 Black-headed Gulls and 30 Common Gulls. In the area of water to the east of the Lake, where the River Len flows into the Lake, a drake Teal could be seen feeding along the edges of the ice, and a Grey Heron was perched in an overhanging tree.
