Sunday 3rd April

Another beautiful sunny morning today. This will be my last post for a week as I off to New York for an Easter break - I will then be able to start regular postings again as I have completed all my lectures at Uni now.

Mute Swan

Today, 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming, 4 Green Woodpeckers called, a Treecreeper was heard, 5 Nuthatch were heard, 2 Goldcrest were heard calling, 7 Blackcap and 5 Chiffchaff were singing, and 2 Stock Doves were seen.

Of particular note on the Lake were 8 Mute Swan, 5 Great Crested Grebe, 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls, at least 255 Black-headed Gulls, and at least 16 Common Gulls. A Grey Heron was seen along the River Len.

Comma

2 Comma butterflies were seen and the first Orange-tip butterfly of the year was seen - a very handsome male.
