Saturday 2nd April

A beautiful warm sunny morning greeted me for my first walk of the month today.
Primrose

3 Green Woodpecker were noted, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming, 2 Treecreepers were heard, 3 Goldcrest were noted, 9 Chifchaffs were singing, 7 Blackcaps were also singing, 4 Nuthatch were noted, a Pheasant called, and a Linnet was singing in the large area of rough grassland.

Green Woodpecker
Of particular note on the Lake were 8 Mute Swan, 5 Great Crested Grebe, and the gull flock consisted of at least 190 Black-headed Gulls, and around 16 Common Gulls.
Cuckooflower

It was a joy to see 1 Peacock butterfly and 2 Small Tortoiseshell butterflies - hopefully the numbers of the latter butterfly seen so far this year are a sign of a comeback?!
