Sunday 20th March

A bright, relatively warm morning today. I had a report from a local birder that a male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker was seen in Oak trees opposite the little kiosk calling yesterday morning - brilliant news!!!!!

7 Goldcrest were noted, 3 Pheasant were seen, 6 Nuthatch were in territory, 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were heard, 3 Green Woodpeckers were noted, 3 Treecreeper were seen, 5 Chiffchaff were singing, a Little Egret flew up from the stream that runs through the 'North-east Wood' at the bottom of Jenners Bank, a Grey Heron flew north, 3 Jay were seen, and 2 Coal Tit were singing.

Mediterranean Gull
(2nd from the front)

Of particular note on the Lake were 3 Mediterranean Gull and 1 Herring Gull amongst the 220+ Black-headed Gulls and 26+ Common Gulls, 6 Mute Swan and 4 Great Crested Grebe.

Good news indeed about the LS Woodpecker Simon. Not had one here since Dec. 2009.
