Saturday 29th January

I was doing the monthly count at Sevenoaks Wildlife Trust Reserve this morning and couldn't get into Mote Park until 3 o'clock this afternoon. The weather hadn't brightened up since first thing and was still cloudy and cold.

Robin

3 Cormorants flew west, 2 Herring Gulls flew north, 5 Goldcrest were noted, a Firecrest was found in the ivy-clad trees by the Waterfall - a first for the year - a few Siskin were heard, 2 Treecreeper were heard, a Nuthatch was calling in Alders by the Lower Bridge, and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was also seen in trees along the River Len. 2 Great Crested Grebes and a pair of Pochard were the highlights on the Lake.

Nice one Simon - the sort of bird that brightens up a day like today!
