Wednesday 29th December

It was another foggy and rather grey morning today.

6 Goldcrest were noted, 3 Coal Tits were found, several Siskin were seen, lots of Long-tailed Tits were active, 2 Treecreeper were heard, 6 Nuthatch were recorded, and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard.

The cryptic Jack Snipe

A Grey Wagtail, 2 Moorhen, 1 Common Snipe, and 1 JACK SNIPE were in the Old Pond (opposite the Waterfall), the Green Sandpiper wasn't present during my visit, however it was seen a little earlier in the morning. Plus, on the Lake were at least 170 Black-headed Gulls, around 27 Common Gulls, 3 Herring Gulls, 3 Tufted Duck, 3 Wigeon (1 duck and 2 drakes), 2 Cormorants, and a Water Rail was seen further up the River Len.

Hi Simon

Visited the favoured spot at 09.35 this morning (THursday). Green Sandpiper showing well + excellent views of a water rail. The Green Sandpiper flew off strongly over the lake at 09.45. Also saw 1 Snipe, 1 Goldcrest, 2 morrhen, 2 jay and about 20 Lont-tailed Tit in a flock all in the same location.
