I got into the park about mid-morning today, and headed pretty much straight for the old pond to confirm if the Jack Snipes are present. Unfortunately they were not, meaning the 12+ birders that visited the park during my visit alone went away disappointed. The water levels were up about an inch or 2 higher than yesterday, and this I expect is the reason for the lack of Jack Snipe today.
Birds of particular note during the visit included: 2 Common Snipe, 4 Jay, 8+ Siskin, 2 Grey Wagtails, 2 Green Woodpeckers, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, a female Sparrowhawk, 3 Coal Tit, 5 Goldcrest, a Treecreeper, and 3 Nuthatch.

Hi Simon
I saw the Jack Snipe at the same pool in Mote Park, Maidstone this morning at about 10.20. Fantastic views of the bird in the open and very still. Also in the area jay (2), grey wagtail (1); green woodpecker (1); GS Woodpecker (1); siskin (12); nuthatch (3), grey heron (1).
Simon
I forgot to add - the bird walked down to the pool from the bank behind. I first noticed it high up on the bank.
