I was leading a walk in the park this morning. 7 people turned up and we all got wet during a long April shower!
Some good birds were seen and it was great to catch up with summer migrants such as Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Common Whitethroat and Reed Warbler. 2 Willow Warbler were heard singing, and quite a few Chiff Chaff and Blackcap were singing too. 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming, a Green Woodpecker was heard, at least 5 Nuthatch were noted, 4 Treecreeper were seen, 3 Jay were seen, 4 Goldcrest were heard, a Pied Wagtail was seen on the northern edge of the lake, and a male Reed Bunting was found perched in the White Poplar on the Golf Course.
Of note on the Lake were at least 7 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Mute Swan, 3 Tuftie, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull. 5 Grey Herons were seen around the park and 3 Cormorants were seen around the Lake.
