Hi, my name is Simon. My local patch is Mote Park, one of Kent’s largest parks and right on the edge of Maidstone, the county town of Kent. It is a former country estate, and records of the Park date back since before the 14th century. The park has a variety of habitats and this blog will note all the wildlife that I encounter in them.

Tuesday 24th March
A quick visit to the park before Uni produced the first 2 Greylag Geese (71) of the year on the Lake (eastern section), and on certain areas around the Lake were Coltsfoot flowers almost open.
Also noted were 5 Goldcrest, 2 Nuthatch, 3 Treecreeper, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Little Owl, and 2 Chiff Chaff were singing.
