Thursday 11th March

Today I was leading a bird walk for the U3A. Despite a cold north wind blowing and the sky being rather grey and cloudy for most of the visit, some good birds were seen. I didn't have my camera with me today but have included with this post another shot of the Nuthatch that I took during my visit on the 5th March.

Nuthatch

Birds of particular note that were seen or heard during the walk included; 4 Nuthatch, 2 Treecreeper, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Stock Dove, a male Kestrel, 5 Jay, lots of Goldfinch, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Water Rail, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 1 male Pochard, 1 male Tufted Duck, 2 Mute Swan, at least 3 Mediterranean Gulls and several Common Gulls were with the many Black-headed Gulls.

Overall it was a super morning, and it was a pleasure to meet and guide such a lovely bunch of people around the park.
