Saturday 26th September

I was leading a walk for Maidstone RSPB this morning so I couldn't visit the park until the afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the park was full of people. After visiting the Kent Goes Wild event I returned via the Golf Course, Weir and River Len.

1 Goldcrest and 4 Goldfinch were noted on the Golf Course, and the scrub and grassland area by the Inlet held a Green Woodpecker. On the eastern section of the Lake viewable from the Causeway and Weir were 5 Shoveler, 3 Great Crested Grebes, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull. A Kingfisher was seen fishing at the mouth of the River Len viewable from the Weir, and a Little Grebe - the first to return - was divng in the water amongst the reeds. A Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Treecreeper were in the willows along the Causeway.
