Tuesday 21st April

It was another beautiful, sunny spring morning today – t-shirt weather.

11 Blackcaps were heard singing, 6 Chiff Chaff were singing, 6 Goldcrests were noted, 6 Whitethroats were singing in the grassland areas, a Pheasant called from the wood by the Old Bothy, 3 Green Woodpeckers called, 4 Jays were seen, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls flew north, 2 Nuthatch were heard singing, 2 Linnets were in the scrub area opposite the Inlet, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers could be heard drumming, 2 Kestrels were seen, the Little Owl was perched in its hole in the usual Oak, and 2 Willow Warblers were singing.

A Grey Heron and a Kingfisher were noted along the River Len, and a Reed Warbler and 2 Mute Swans were in the marsh area. Of particular note on the Lake were a total of 12 Great Crested Grebes displaying and fighting, 5 Canada Geese and a pair of Tufted Ducks.

A Slowworm was seen in the Long Valley, 1 Rabbit was spotted along Laurel Walk, and 3 Small Whites, 12 Orange Tips, 1 Green-veined White, 1 Holly Blue, 5 Peacocks, and 9 Speckled Woods were seen, and a cat was spotted along the Long Valley.
