Monday 20th April

I only had time for a quick visit this morning and so I couldn’t do my full route. Areas covered were Laurel Walk, Jenner’s Bank, the old gardens, the grassland north of the Len, and the River Len. It was lovely and sunny and there was very little breeze.

Blackbird

5 Blackcaps were heard singing, 5 Chiff Chaff were singing, a lone House Martin was spotted flying west, 5 Goldcrests were noted, 2 Whitethroats were singing in the grassland north of the Len, 2 Pheasants were noted, a Green Woodpecker called, 3 Jays were seen, 2 Treecreeper was observed along the Len, a Herring Gull flew north, 2 Nuthatch were seen, and bird of the day was a Common Buzzard which was spotted flying west over the Len Valley, calling - only my third record for the Park, and my first of the year!!

Pheasant

1 Small White, 5 Orange Tips, and 2 Speckled Woods were also seen, as were 3 Rabbits.
