Scattered cloud made the temperature feel a touch cooler today.

3 Coal Tits were singing along Laurel Walk, a Grey Wagtail called as it flew over, as did 2 Skylarks flying north, there was a flock of at least 40 Siskin in the Alders along the River Len, 3 Goldcrests were seen, a Nuthatch called briefly from an Oak, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were heard calling from the Oaks along the River Len, a Stock Dove was perched in a Willow on the Lakes eastern edge, a Jay was spotted flying in the wood behind the Old Walled Garden, and the Little Owl could be seen sitting in its hole.

Birds of particular note on the Lake were 3 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Mute Swan, 9 Canada Geese, 4 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochard, and 2 Cormorants. The gull flock on the Lake consisted of at least 56 Black-headed Gulls and 14 Common Gulls. Along the River Len were 2 Grey Herons, 1 Water Rail, and 2 Kingfishers.

Nice days birding Simon. I use to go to Mote Park, but I haven't been for years. I remember when there was a Sacred Ibis there. I know it was probably a escape, but it gave great views.I too use to see some good birds there . Nice patch.
