Tuesday 11th November

It was lovely and sunny during a lunchtime walk through the Park, along the River Len and around the Lake. After the recent rain we've had, the water levels were the highest I have ever seen them!

Several Goldcrests were noted, a Nuthatch called briefly, a group of Long-tailed Tits were seen passing through an Oak and lawson Cypress in the picnic area by the duck feeding area, a Great Spotted Woodpecker called from the trees on the Lake's eastern edge, and groups of Goldfinches could be seen feeding from the various patches of Alder along the Len.

These 2 Brown Rats were seen on the northern edge of the Lake.

On the Lake were 4 Tufted Duck, 1 Pochard, 11 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Mute Swan, 8 Canada Geese, a group of at least 9 Cormorants, and the Mallards, Coots and Moorhens. The gull flock on the Lake included at least 68 Black-headed Gulls, 9 Common Gulls, and a adult winter-plumaged Mediterranean Gull. The Black-headed Gull flock on the playing fields held a second a Med Gull. A Grey Wagtail and 4 Grey Herons were seen along the River Len.
